1. What made you decide to have wls surgery?
I was quickly tracking (again) to 100kg - my son had sleeve surgery and his mental shift in such a short time inspired me to put myself forward for this amazing journey
2. What was your weight prior to your WLS, and... What’s the goal?
I weighed 97 on the day of my surgery but have several times in my life hit 113 (it’s been a up and down all my life) My goal is 65 - currently 67 so close super special
3. Did you get to the weight you wanted?
2kg to go and yes it will happen
4. How do you feel now that you have had the surgery?
Wow- words cannot explain how I FEEL it is an amazing journey. I am constantly learning more about myself, I am now proud of myself. I walk with my head held high weary clothes that now suit my personality. I no longer hide away I live life daily it is truely truly amazing
5. Were there any problems along the way?
Well there were some emotional triggers that I needed to face and relearn - I am a work in process and constantly learning my why’s and I am now finally liking the person that I am becoming
6. Would you do it again now that you know what you know?
Yes yes yes
7. What are some of the inspiring things you can think of that you have noticed along the way?
I had to learn to trust the process- once I really understood that and stopped putting expectations on myself I was able to tweak and experiment and watch the unfolding of a new life.
8. Did you have some happy unexpected surprises?
It really blew me away whenever I brought a new piece of clothing and in a few weeks it either was to big or baggy (I just couldn’t get my head around that) I was also surprised about how little food your body requires and how once you eat clean how delicious and amazing food does really taste I now enjoy each bite and the layers of flavours it is truly a new experience.
9. What advice do you have for anyone preparing for surgery?
-firstly DO IT
-Trust in the process
- listen to your professional team
- be open to relearn
- ask for help when you need it
- enjoy your transportation
- and cement new habits.
10. What is the one very best thing that has resulted from your surgery? What has been the hardest part of your journey?
Best- I am now living life.
Hard - hard but well worth it was learning why I ate and emotionality tackling what ever came up.
