1. What made you decide to have WLS surgery?
There are a couple of factors here for why I wanted this surgery, firstly I had seen friends have this surgery and saw how positive there life became after, secondly I saw a photo of myself and husband at a wedding and was shocked and what I saw and finally I have a 4 year old son and I wanted to be able to enjoy life with him!

2. What was your weight prior to your WLS, and... What’s the goal?
My weight before surgery was 133 kg and my goal in to be 70kg however my dietician has said the goal would be 67kg which is a little extreme to me but what 3kg really?!?

3. Did you get to the weight you wanted?
Still going, I am only 8 months post op and have already lost 43kg now I just need to maintain it and enjoy life

4. How do you feel now that you have had the surgery?
In the beginning I was a little embarrassed to have had to have this surgery but now, I am confident and really positive about the experience that much so my sister is looking at having it down this year!

5. Were there any problems along the way?
Not really, I have eating out anxiety because I want to make sure I am picking the right meal and just the mind game of it all, weighing myself but not seeing a change!

6. Would you do it again now that you know what you know?
Yes for sure but I think I would need to mentally prepare my self better!

7. What are some of the inspiring things you can think of that you have noticed along the way?
My active level has increased, my outlook in life is so much more positive! I am finally getting more confident in the person I am and was many many years ago!

8. Did you have some happy unexpected surprises?
Yes, that you go down shoe sizes!
I honestly had no idea that would happen and also how cold you get, I am just in the beginning of colder months and I am already layering up!

9. What advice do you have for anyone preparing for surgery?
Make sure you have a really solid support team behind you, family, friends, doctors and a support group that you can ask dump questions and who will keep you honest!

10. What is the one very best thing that has resulted from your surgery?
What has been the hardest part of your journey?
The best thing is having a new lease on life and wanting to do more things with my little family! I even want to buy a bike to go on a weekend ride with my done! The hardest part would have to be the mind game, trying to not focus on the scales but focusing on the non scale victory’s like, being able to walk without being puffed out, play at a park with my son, being confident to go to the beach in swimmers without having to completely cover up!
